For many, sliding down cold stone into crystal pools was as memorable as the view.
Guides & Safety
Guides are mandatory for swimming and high jumps. Several visitors name theirs—Putu, Gustuu, Gede—as attentive, confident spotters who know deep landing zones and carry life vests. Many appreciated them also as photographers. Some locals do promote extra walks: a 20-minute detour to rice terraces or the Blue Lagoon, which some found secluded and worth the fee.
Terrain & Physical Demands
The most common caution: steep, sometimes slippery steps, both down and up. Less experienced hikers reported sore legs for days. Families managed with care, but strollers are impractical. Water is often cold; after heavy rain, it can turn brown. Good footwear and a swimsuit are advised.

Some guests felt the no-swim rule on basic tickets was too restrictive; others thought the safety oversight justified it. Parking noted at around 2k, with scooter spaces free.
