Tranquil coastal town, diving and snorkeling paradise

Candidasa is a small East Bali coastal resort town, quieter than Amed and more accessible than Sidemen. The beach was largely washed away by coral mining in the 1970s — seawalls now front most of the shoreline. Snorkeling and diving around Tepekong and Mimpang islands is the primary draw. A useful base for day trips to Tenganan (the ancient pre-Hindu Bali Aga village, 3 km inland) and Besakih mother temple (1 hour north).
