Sanur is Bali's oldest established beach resort area, developed in the 1960s and retained much of its original character. A protected offshore reef creates calm, flat water — the best swimming beach on the island for young children and non-swimmers. The boardwalk runs 4 km along the beachfront connecting the main beach areas. Fast boats to Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan depart from Sanur Harbor every 30 minutes from 7am. Traffic is manageable by Bali standards. Predominantly popular with families and older travelers.
