At 7 AM, the wooden hut known locally as Rumah Pohon can feel almost private. Early visitors describe standing above Diamond Beach, the ocean light soft, the air still, with only the sound of waves hitting the cliffs. Arriving later usually means queueing—sometimes an hour or more—for your turn on the narrow staircase up to the house.
Tickets, Extras, and More Extras
Parking is IDR 5 000. Entry is IDR 25 000 per person, which includes a small bottle of water. A photo at the tree house is another IDR 75 000, and other viewpoints or props inside the site have separate fees. Reviewers from 2023–2024 frequently call it expensive and highly commercial, and some note you cannot take photos at the hut without paying.
The Climb and Its Risks
Expect 200–300 steep steps, roughly 10–20 minutes down and more effort coming back up. Concrete stairs toward the cliff are uneven; rope handrails are loose and wooden steps in the hut have no real guardrails. Multiple visitors caution that it’s not wheelchair‑friendly and unsafe for those with mobility issues.
Waiting and Timing
Afternoon waits can stretch to one or three hours in peak season, with only a minute or two allowed in the hut. Early mornings bring shorter lines and cooler air; late afternoons after 3 PM also ease the heat. Sunrise here is widely praised for both the light and the crowd‑free experience.
Road Access
The last stretch before the entrance is narrow, steep, and potholed. Scooters can make the trip, but riders advise going slowly and carefully. Cars will need to negotiate hairpin turns and poor surfaces.

Everyone agrees the panorama over Diamond Beach and the Thousand Islands is extraordinary. Opinions split on value—some find the photos worth the climb and fees; others urge visiting nearby free viewpoints instead.
