Many recommend sleeping up on the hill and heading down to the beach for meals, live bands and diving.

Rooms, comfort and design details
Most guests describe rooms as very clean, comfy and beautifully decorated, with cold air‑conditioning, good beds and detailing like carved bamboo ceilings you end up staring at before sleep. Several mention that every room has an unblocked sea view, some with rose gardens or pool just outside the door.

Not everyone agrees on size: a few find rooms small or “congested”, especially when luggage is open on the floor, while others call them spacious. Noise can travel through the bamboo structures; one guest preferred second‑floor rooms for more privacy and fewer footsteps overhead.

Breakfast, bar and food safety gaps

Many mention being made to feel at home over stays of several nights, and diving guests in particular praise the coordination with Mambo Dive Resort and its professional guides.

At least one guest felt hospitality was “almost nonexistent”, citing no help with luggage, paid transfers of 100,000 IDR each way for a ~5‑minute port trip, and being pressured by the owner at breakfast to leave a positive review in exchange for free T‑shirts and small gifts. Another reviewer warns that some five‑star reviews are written to obtain souvenirs, calling them unreliable and noting small but telling misses like stained bedsheets, a broken safe and unclean cutlery.

Location, access and who it suits
Being on a hill is both its strength and its weakness. You’re away from the busier strip, wrapped in quiet, with cooler air and that panorama across Bali. At the same time, roads up are narrow, steep and dark at night; nervous scooter drivers may find the climb intimidating and a scooter or shuttle is almost essential to reach restaurants, beach bars and convenience stores.

Power reliability also divides opinion. One scathing review describes power cuts every night with no backup and compares this unfavourably to 10 USD hostels nearby. Others never mention electricity issues at all, so experiences appear inconsistent or tied to specific stays.
