Motel Mexicola: Bali's Fiesta of Controlled Chaos
I've stumbled upon tales of Motel Mexicola in Bali, and it sounds utterly wild.Not just a restaurant, but a whole… experience. You go in for some tostadas (which are supposed to be the real deal, even Mexicans apparently approve), and the next thing you know, you're caught in a conga line, the bar's turned into a dance floor, and there are people dancing on tables. It's family-friendly early on, then transforms into a full-blown fiesta. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one.
The whole vibe is just… infectious, I guess? Everyone's grinning, the staff looks genuinely stoked to be there (big shout-out to Agus, apparently a legend), and you just want to join the madness. Although, I did see a few reviews mentioning watered-down rum and cokes. Which is kinda weird, considering all the glowing praise. Maybe an off night? Or inconsistency? Who knows.
Music seems to be a big part of the chaos—whatever it is. And the piña coladas are supposed to be amazing. It's definitely described as a sensory overload—bright colors, loud music… But I wish people would be more specific about the smells. Is it all sizzling fajitas and tequila fumes?
