Amaroossa Suite Bali: Space, Warmth and Wear
Spacious suites above Nusa Dua’s bustle
Set back in Taman Mumbul on Jl. Taman Kebo Iwa No.2, Amaroossa Suite Bali sits about 6 km from Nusa Dua Beach and Museum Pasifika, and 9 km from Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park. Guests like that it’s in a quieter pocket, though several note it feels “far from everything” and not walkable to the sea, so expect short drives or rideshares to Mengiat or Geger.
Polished in its original concept, this all‑suite hotel draws repeat guests for sheer space: separate living areas, flat‑screen TVs, safes, and tea and coffeemaking facilities in even the basic categories. Some upgraded suites bring kitchenettes or private outdoor pools; a few reviewers praise “exquisite” rooms, clean floors, and big bay‑view layouts, while many others now find peeling wallpaper, stained sofas, and tired paint.
Suites, pools and rooftop promise
On paper, amenities are generous: an outdoor pool, a rooftop pool area with broad views toward GWK, a casual restaurant, fitness center, meeting rooms, plus 24‑hour room service, breakfast (surcharge) and parking. One guest who booked a Pool Suite liked having a private plunge pool, and some call the building “so great designed and well decorated” with strong air‑conditioning.
The lived reality is uneven. Multiple 2023–2024 reviews describe rusty bathtubs, mouldy shower curtains, loose balcony rails, broken stairs, brackish water and non‑working hot water. Several guests found the rooftop and shared pools discolored with algae, and one reports “no rooftop bar” in practice despite the amenity listing.
Warm, personal service at the front line
Staff warmth is the hotel’s clear bright spot. Guests from India and elsewhere rave about “11/10” hospitality, surprise birthday decorations, and vegetarian breakfasts cooked without egg or chicken “with so much love”. Names like Andika, Orin, Darsa, and restaurant team members Sri, Lestari, Resty, Chika and Nanda are singled out for kindness and flexibility.
Service consistency, however, dips. A few guests report sleepy or dismissive reception, poor phone manners, and to‑go breakfasts forgotten or incomplete. There are also complaints about “wild” parking at the drop‑off and lack of visible security at a rear entrance.
Cleanliness, maintenance and water problems
Cleanliness divides opinion. Some visitors describe large, tidy suites with fresh breakfast and a quiet setting; many others talk about lobby sofas “never cleaned”, flies in public areas and at breakfast, dusty glass, stained towels and yellowed sheets. Isolated but serious comments mention rats in ceiling voids and even roaches emerging from bathroom drains.
Bathroom and plumbing issues are the most common frustration: leaking sinks, broken bidets, low water pressure, unreliable or absent hot water and, in a few cases, no running water at all for up to three days. Several honeymooners and long‑stay guests say their stay felt more like a worn 2‑star motel than the 4‑star label suggests.
Noise, access and who it suits
Set off the main resort strip, the property can feel pleasantly calm, especially for those with cars or scooters using the bypass. Yet road‑facing rooms suffer from traffic noise and weak soundproofing, while corridor chatter and staff joking in hallways also carry into rooms.
For travelers who value big, inexpensive suites, friendly staff and don’t mind riding to the beach—or overlooking dated interiors and erratic maintenance—Amaroossa Suite Bali can still work, but demanding honeymooners and light sleepers are better off elsewhere.
