Queues and Climate
Several travellers note a divided system for foreign and local applicants, with ticketed queues moving faster than expected. Waits of around 20 minutes are common. Comfort, however, is mixed — one Google 2024 visitor wondered if the air-conditioning was even on during their stop.
Process and Protocols
Experiences range from “smooth and fast” to mildly frustrating. Some were asked for extra paperwork already submitted online, while others felt an entire trip could have been avoided because only new photos were taken, not fingerprints or interviews. On the plus side, personal interactions can be warm: names like Bapak Gede Puja earn thanks for helpfulness.
Facilities Reality Check
The building’s state divides opinion sharply. A few find it much improved compared to the old office. Others report dirty toilets without soap, paper, or sanitizer, and staff demeanour less welcoming than elsewhere in Bali. Outside immigration, expect little: reviewers mention one open restaurant upstairs (Teluk Merah), a café on the ground floor, and an ATM centre with no machines.
Getting There
Miscommunications about “nearest local office” can add hours to the day — what foreigners assume is Denpasar might be redirected to Kuta. Arrive with all documents ready, extra copies of bank statements, and perhaps snacks, given the sparse dining options.
Final Take
If you’re in Bali for paperwork, Benoa Square will get the job done quickly, but don’t come for leisure. Streamlined for function over form, it suits travellers who value efficient processing over atmosphere.
